The Battle of Camden

The Battle of Camden happened in South Carolina August 16,,1780. Sadly it  ended in a victory for the British. It was a major loss for America because so many soldiers died, a lot of ammunition was lost. This had been specifically named the most disastrous battle in the whole Revolution. Over 900 Americans died and about 1000 were captured, While 300 British fighters were killed or wounded. The leaders of both sides were Horatio Gates and Charles Cornwallis. Gates led the Americans and Charles led the British. The battle happened when the Continental Army thought they could beat the British because they outnumbered the British. When they started fighting some soldiers fled the Continental Army, because they weren’t as trained as the rest of the soldiers were,  making the battle more fair.  Why this battle should  be remembered is it made the hold on the Carolinas stronger for the British.
